Shooting at Howe Park Sends Four People Injured in Sacramento County's Arden-Arcade Neighborhood
Law enforcement in Sacramento are examining a gunfire incident that unfolded on April 18 2026 at Howe Park at the moment authorities were breaking up an unauthorized event of several hundred people.
Prior to the Shooting
Law enforcement first arrived at Howe Community Park around 6:30 in the evening after being notified of people potentially armed with concealed firearms. Following that, a second call came in about a possible physical fight unfolding at Howe Park.
Aerial units conducted an aerial sweep but could not confirm any ongoing fight. Despite this, authorities discovered that several hundred individuals had gathered without authorization without official sanction.
How the Shooting Unfolded
Deputies worked to disperse the crowd by surrounding the park and using their vehicle PA systems instructing the hundreds present to go home. Nearly 15 minutes were allotted for people to comply.

Four People Shot
By the time the scene was secured, four gunshot victims were found to have been shot. The four individuals — including a female and three males each apparently in their mid to late twenties — were airlifted or driven to local Sacramento hospitals. Medical teams stated that two victims were in serious condition, one of the four had moderate gunshot wounds, and one victim's wounds were minor. As of last report, no fatalities were reported and all four were stable.
Sacramento Metro Fire were called to the scene and assisted with medical triage shooting victims on location.
The Investigation
The center of the incident appears to have happened near Cottage Way close to the local Home Depot on the 2200 block of Howe Ave. CSI personnel recovered further ballistic evidence in the form of shell casings along Cottage Way. Projectile impacts were also found in the wrought iron perimeter fencing adjacent to the nearby Home Depot. These discoveries pointed to that a shooter had been discharging rounds toward the south from Cottage Way aimed at the Home Depot store. The store itself was secured under a brief lockdown as a precaution. Crime scene personnel worked tirelessly throughout the night.
Arrests Made
Details gathered over police scanner frequencies established that a Kia connected to the shooting was pulled over in the Solano County area. Four individuals were taken into custody. Deputies were en route to collect those detained to return them to Sacramento for formal questioning. Video reviewed at the scene confirmed that there were two gunmen.
